Our History

MayuzumiOur parent company in Japan, Nikkei Co., is the forerunner in mushroom cultivation for over a quarter of the century. The Mayuzumi family has been cultivating high quality mushrooms in the mountainous region of the Gumma Prefecture, which is a few hours north of Tokyo.

Currently, Fumimaru Mayuzumi continues to uphold his long family tradition of growing and producing fine mushrooms. Mayuzumi studied and received his degree in mycology, the scientific study of fungi, at the Department of Applied Microbiology at Tokyo Agricultural University. In the 1970's, he began developing his own original method (natural wood log cultivation) for cultivating the Reishi mushroom to ensure that they are grown to maturity where the potential health benefits are optimized for the user. His unique and high quality Mayuzumi Reishi strain is used only in Nikkei products.

F. Mayuzumi has dedicated his life to promote a greater understanding of the wonderful benefits of Reishi and also to produce the highest quality of mushrooms for consumption.
